Director’s Notes
“Falsettos”
came to me at a difficult time in my life. I just came out of high school
and was only then discovering the complexities of the AIDS epidemic, the
utter elation of setting music to words in theater school, and the difficulties
of layering love with culture, traditions and society.
“Falsettos” somehow always put a smile on
my face, while listening to the cast recording, singing along with a piano
or simply imagining a world seemingly far from my own. Ten years have
passed and my imagination has become a reality. This is my directorial debut.
And I’m proud to say that my past has collided with my present and
that the future ignites this effort.
I extend this show as a wish upon all, that by being true
to one’s heart, one can prevent constipation. Please enjoy the show
and I hope you take from it your own personal perspective on love.
